Why Do We Dream?

"Why Do We Dream?" – Editorial Illustration
This self-directed project draws inspiration from the article "Why Do We Dream?" from MIT McGovern Institute, which explores various theories behind the purpose of dreams, such as memory consolidation and emotional regulation. The article delves into how dreams play a vital role in processing experiences, emotions, and memories, helping to organize and recontextualize our daily lives in ways that may not always make sense. This illustration visually represents the surreal and bizarre nature of dreamlike states, capturing the unexpected and often fragmented way in which our minds weave together elements from reality and imagination during sleep. Through this piece, I aimed to encapsulate the strange and vivid quality of dreams, which sometimes seem to exist in a world of their own, yet are deeply tied to our emotional and cognitive processes.
